Held within the University of Kent’s Arts Centre, The Gulbenkian is a state-of-the-art performance space that has housed performers such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Russell Howard and Ian McKellen — and now four of our very own SupaJam Canterbury students.
Kyle, Tyler, River and Lily performed as part of a large-scale performance night that also featured dancers, a light show and music by the renowned music producer Floating Points. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to perform, network and be paid for their work. For some of our students, this was their first paid performance, an incredible way to begin a professional career.

Our student performers devised their own electronic music sets over the course of two and a half months. The time and dedication they put into this project was evident in November when they took to the stage. Alongside the students who composed their own music, we also had a student working on live reactive visuals using software and a large LED wall. Together, all students involved created engaging visual and electronic soundscapes, resulting in a rich and immersive sensory experience for the audience.

A huge well done to all the students involved in this project. Not only were your performances outstanding, but we were incredibly impressed by the professionalism you demonstrated throughout the process. A special thank you as well to David Maitland, our Radio, Podcast & Music Producer, who put so much work into organising and supporting these performances.
